Hype Hair: What are some of your favorite ways to style your hair?

Chilli: I like the wash-and-go the best because it's easy. Just jump in the shower, wash my hair, put some mousse on it, and that's it!

Hype Hair: What are some of your favorite hair products?

Chilli: The best mousse in the whole wide world is by Paul Mitchell, the one that says "with conditioners," so it doesn't dry the hair out. It doesn't flake and all that yucky stuff.

Hype Hair: What about styling tools? Do you have any favorite brands of flatirons or curlers that you like to use?

Chilli: I don't own a flatiron, but I do have those hot rollers. When I get a roller set, I use the hot rollers at home in between my visits to keep it up because that's not stressful to the hair.

Hype Hair: How do you protect your hair from damage?

Chilli: Well, I don't kill it with the hair dryer and flatirons.

Hype Hair: So you stay away from heat pretty much.

Chilli: Yes, I do. The only time I use the heat is when I use the diffuser, but [the heat] is still coming out in a different way. It doesn't agitate the hair that way. And, when I sit under the dryer for a roller set. That's it.

Hype Hair: Do you have any favorite hair-care tips for our readers?

Chilli: What I would recommend is to use a satin pillowcase. Your hair doesn't shed as much when you use a satin pillowcase, which is obviously healthier for the hair. And I use oils. I try all different types of oils because I believe in hydration.

Hype Hair: What kind of oils? Botanical oils?

Chilli: I use coconut oil. You can find that at any Indian grocery store. It's pure coconut oil. I like the oil by Motions called Marula Natural Therapy. It smells so good! When my hair is curly, I use this product by Cantu — Cantu Shea Soft Daily Shea Butter Oil Moisturizer. It's not real thick and heavy, but it really moisturizes.

Hype Hair: What about hair color? I see you still have the auburn color.

Chilli: Forever!

Hype Hair: OK, so you're going to keep it. So you would never go blonde or anything drastic like that?

Chilli: Oh no, no, no, no, no! (Laughs)

Hype Hair: Well, the auburn works for you. It's great with your skin tone!
